About the author
Julie Baer is an artist and children’s book author-illustrator based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her first children’s picture book, I Only Like What I Like (Bollix Books 2003), was named a 2003 Notable Children’s Book of Jewish Content by the Association of Jewish Libraries. She has written and illustrated many children’s books, and has received honors, including receiving the Don Freeman Memorial Grant from the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and New Century Writers Award finalist award. Her portraits and nature paintings have been exhibited widely in galleries, museums, non-profit institutions, and corporate environments, and have received many awards and honors, including fellowships from the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture. Her works are held in private collections as well as the collections of numerous non-profits, including Yeshiva University Museum, the Dora Teitelboim Center for Yiddish Culture, and Family Service Greater Boston. As a lending artist in the corporate loan program of the DeCordova Museum (Lincoln, MA), Ms. Baer’s nature paintings are exhibited in many corporate offices in the greater Boston area.
